WHAT IS CURBING GROWTH IN THE POETRY AND LITERARY ARTS IN AFRICA?

The literary arts and poetry sector in Africa isn't as alive and glimmering as it once was. Local poetry and book exchange events have been on a decline. The best possible explanation is the digital migration of everything. E-books have become most popular with young readers account for most of the new books bought in the 18 to 22 age bracket.

While most will see this departure from physical books to digital files in the positive light, it is my contention that this has had somewhat made an impairment to our capability to connect and preserve the reading culture that was inspired by the feeling of getting yourself a physical book.
For the literary arts field, novels were once the favorite past time before the advent of social which now consumes most of our modern day leisure- free time.
In regards to the creative part of my argument, more would-be writers have made a transition to writing on blogs and for the better part, their style and mode of writing is now often incline to writing lifestyle pieces over the traditional fictional and creative writing, in order to fit the "market needs, therefore, dealing a heavy blow to creativity and ingenuity in the literary field.
