Sounds EP by Nigerian psychedelic soul & hiphop artist; Wolf Xx; the Review

From a radiant creative soul who believes in the eternal power of words, Wolf, a Nigerian psychedelic soul, pop and Rnb recording and performing artist brings you the debut EP titled, Sounds. The highly anticipated project that took a span of around 14 months creating in the studio has proved worth the long wait to many fans in Nigeria and around the globe.
The project that scores highly on multiple aspects ranging from production to style & musicality and has a total of 9 tracks that cover a diverse range of topics making it highly relatable to any listener irregardless of whether you have heard music from Wolf before or just chanced into his music online or on the radio. The Sounds EP track list features among key tracks; Life, the first track after the Ep intro on which Wolf introduces the sound concept. Life kicks off on a low tempo that gradually picks as he paints pictures of his childhood lessons that he has held onto dearly “ If you want make a better life, you just need the man above and the man inside” is a key tag on the tag that attest to the depth of the thought drawn in the process.
Reminiscent of the old style of 90’s smooth RnB is the 2nd track on the sounds EP, Jean Grey that puts across the prowess and versatility in style that Wolf has nurtured in the process of putting together this project. The Genuwine feel type of track puts you in that valentines, dark room candle lit kind of sensual vibe. The smooth track is followed by Like Beyonce that has a slow sequence deepening the mystery of exploring fun time described vividly of gentle love to the mystic girl possessing  beauty like beyonce.
The dialect, diction and delivery on the tracks adds on to the uniqueness and authenticity of the Sounds EP. The production featuring DX phase whose impeccable  production style renders the project a more classic touch can  be heavily felt on What you Know, a track on the EP that flexes Wolfs ability and prowess and solid rapping. The fast faced track sheds light on the lifestyle in the south side where Wolf hails and is eager to rep for any day.
Other gems on the project that stands out and builds on the credibility of his sound and talent are Something about you on which Wolf serenades our ears with piano and vocals that takes you places beyond. You will want to listen to this song and sing it to your love any day all seasons. Trippy love is also a delightful track with more of a funk feel. It has this galactic out of this world transcendent feel that takes you to the galaxies and stars set in the line of a beat that makes you want to move to the rhythm and nudge your head to the groove. The lyrics are easy to bump to as it revolves around the experience of his love with a lady dripping in finesse and eager for love.

T he Ep comes to a beautiful conclusion on track 10 titled Manny which has a laid back flow on which Wolf shares his outlook on business, as focusing of the price for success and the pursuit of excellence making moves for a buck on his daily grind. The production is simplistic with a heavy bass trap kind of feel. Although the project lacks many features, a few collaborations and key highlights are felt from wolf involving DX phase, and Kayzee on the project featuring on No Lele essentially the EP is a great project whose ratings will vary dependent on the genre of music you value most but it’s a bright beginning, looking forward to the prospect of what Wolf will evolve into on the next project as we enjoy this current project savoring all the good tracks and supporting the artist in the endeavors towards creating more great music for the world.
