KENYANS DEAL WITH HIGH INFLATION RATES AND COST OF LIVING

 Flowing the recent in the price of commodities Kenyans are finding it difficult to keep with the cost of living as most cannot adequately fend for their families.

The annual inflation rate in Kenya accelerated to 7.1% in May of 2022, from 6.5% in the previous month. It was the highest reading since February of 2020, as the cost of food products continued to rise sharply (12.4% vs 12.2% in April), partly affected by the war in Ukraine.

The resolve by many Kenyan to conduct their finances with a fast shrinking buying power in a more shrewd manner has been somewhat difficult. With efforts to budget for items and also show restraint in buying and consumer patterns, Kenyans are resulting to less spending and crossing their fingers in the background of the upcoming elections to be held on August, 9th and are hopeful for a peaceful transition which is much needed for the recovery of the economy that has slowed down and needs a resuscitation
