CAN THE OPPOSITION STOP WAJACKOYAH REGGAE OR IS HE REALLY THE 5TH?

In the recent few days, Wajackoyah the 5th a hashtag has been trending with thousands of memes circulating on popular social media claiming pledge and support for the presidential aspirant who has made a name for himself with campaign promises such as Legalizing Marijuana and fighting corruption by order and decree. In my experience hwever, I have witnessed hype on social media before, for instance with a facebook event invite which most people claim to “attend” only for not so many people to show up even after pledging to attend on the facebook event page.

Kenyans being particularly peculiar and with a high affinity for entertainment and distraction from the real life which has been tough owing to the high cost of basic commodities and prices of fuel from inflation, are more susceptible to being drawn to a trending wave which in this case I believe is not anywhere close to being a genuine movement. If Wajackoyah is to believe the hype, then it is going to be a rude shock as most Kenyans have a history of voting along tribal lines and not been Keen on the political and economic manifestos or political ideologies of the contestants.

With the best of intentions for Kenyans and also have somewhat very radical ideas and talking points for this media interviews is yet to touch the core of the hearts of Kenyan electorate who have been for a long time drawn to politicians who “pour” money on their campaign trails. The same big spenders evade their responsibilities once chosen and constitute an elderly lot who believe the voice of the youth should not be heeded to. For Wajackoyah, he has exemplified the need to integrate or rather incorporate the youth in his leadership agenda and aspirations, with the recent appointment of Jaymo yule msee as his head of communications in his statehouse run.

It is critical however that Wajackoyah remains realistic and not the praises go to his head as Kenyans will sing praises of him only to end up voting along the same tribal lines only to regret the choices right immediately after the vote as things remain the same with the economy and the politics of the day.
