THE ESSENCE OF NETWORKING FOR MILLENIALS IN CAREER & SOCIAL LIFE

The Pro-networking generation is out for more fulfilling accomplishments in life. Re-asserting their commitment to achieve more by the time they clock 35 years, they have determinedly chosen to embrace networking and the important bridging role networking plays towards the achievement of these targets in today's business and social environment that is characterized by an ever increasing world population, diminishing opportunities and scarcity of resources. Seemingly, everyone is faced with the daunting task of solving the networking equation and the dilemma to bridge the gaps in a race to secure more opportunities in the face of ever shrinking resources social and capital wise.

The new breed of go getters recognizes that there is no longer a pie left for those that come second place. In this highly competitive society no one even recalls there ever existed a second spot for those that dare come second. This view point many not be most popular among many but the rush to pro actively network is on. Pro-activity in multiple dimensions; not only interpreted to mean sitting behind desks and engaging people on social networks but embracing networking as a tool and consciously engaging through physical meet ups to refresh perspective and broaden their social sphere of influence.

This active society segment has found it more amusing in enjoying the convenience of real time chatting  and the marvel of instant feedback compared to other prior generations but even with the rise of this multiple digital channels and avenues for networking, they have also encountered a fair share of hurdles in the contemporary networking context. Through our interaction with technology in the modern day and within our diversified roles at the work place, we find ourselves engulfed with different people in various circles, especially so determined by how we network. Dr. James Mwangi, C.E.O Equity Bank in an article published in the News Daily asserts that, we are living in an age of networks, not hierarchies where knowledge and wisdom must be distributed, rather than contained among select few.
