Denis Coco Is passionate about seeing growth and success in the matatu Culture in Kenya, he works with Smurfs a popular matatu brand in Kenya. We had the opportunity to interview him;
1. Hello, kindly introduce yourself?
1. My name is Denis popularly known as Coco
2. As a stakeholder In the transport industry, what role do you play?
2. I've been a fan kwa industry but recently stepped up to managing SMURFS social media
3. What challenges do you mainly face in your line of work?
3. Challenges I've seen in the industry is hate. Recently there was the designer beef that ended, I think that hyping your brand shouldn't involve stepping on others. The govt especially kanjo come with strict rules that diminish culture
4. How would you like the government to help you and the industry in general in the work you do?
4. I think the government should embrace the matatu culture as a heritage of this country because this is the one thing that Kenya stands out. We need to put our culture out there
5. When did you know about the Heels and Wheels Africa (Matatu is bae) Initiative?
5. I recently learned about Heels and Wheels. I love the work you guys are doing and hii industry inafaa support at least we lift ourselves before others lift us
6. Do you think this initiative has positive impact on the industry?
6. I think so because we've seen the industry being stirred up the right way tangu the Heels and Wheels and Xtreme campaign. We're hoping the Heels and Wheels with Kasarani campaign will yield positive results.
7. What can be done to appreciate different stakeholders such as drivers and touts this year?
7. For the stakeholders kama drivers, everyone has who they love so recognize everyone who makes a difference na kitu kama T shirt coz for me drivers wamenibamba ni Malkom(Smurfs) na Evanso(Night Nurse)
8. What is your hope and objective you wish to achieve in this year 2022?
8. Personally I wish that Kasarani would be higher up that where I found it
9. What is your message to Kenyan youth this election year.?
I wish the Kenyan youth well in elections. I hope that we can think critically about who we vote for and let's have a peaceful election
