Lack of creativity , ingenuity and real passion has been a
big challenge for the entertainment industry in Kenya for many aspiring
artists, deejays, designers among other creatives. Recently another vice has
arisen in the form of Impersonation by
ill willed and lazy entrants into the indusry that have been keen to feign the
names and logos and the identities of industry personalities that have been in
the entertainment industry.
The most recent case highly noted being the impersonation of
the the Deejay and Kenyan recording artsit populary known as DJ Trevor, the scratch master by an imposter going by the same name, who is
out not only to murr thec name of the original Dj treovor but also to con
artists and club owners of their money in shady deals perpetrated in the name
of offering digital marketing and deejaying services only to the late
realisation that the said DJ Trevor is a cheap con.
To the peril of both the original and the fake, most
impersonation cases end up with erosion of the brand worth of the original
identy holder and loss of business and eventually it’s a cliff-slip for booth a
lose- lose situation. To curb this sham beware of the imposters and make a
thorough background check before any dealings. We have had a previous feature
of the real Dj trevor on this blog, see link
Beware of any dealings out there with this other fake
impersonator who even takes no physical resemblance with Deejay Trevor(Real
name Samuel) and also be keen to check up before you make any deals as an
artist, promoter in any form of dealings rest you end up losing to the
imposters in the indusrty , a trend that is slowly building up.
A key point also to
the artists and deejays and others in branding yourselves, source for unique
identities that sets you apart and get out in full backing of your branding and
verification of social media accounts rest the impersonators hack into your
accounts and result to cases that could
wreck careers and put fans at a disavantage on the harmsway by these imposters
who are reckless and full of greed!
